Secretaries of State Back Furse

HOUSTON – Austen Furse, Republican candidate for Texas Senate District 17, the Special Election being held to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Senator Kyle Janek, today announced three new endorsements.

“Today I am announcing the endorsements of three gentlemen who have served our country and our state with distinction.  James A. Baker, III 61st United States Secretary of State, George W. Strake, Jr. former Texas Secretary of State, and Jack Rains former Texas Secretary of State.

James Baker praised Furse saying, “Austen Furse demonstrates a knowledgeable command of the critical issues of our day and a deep appreciation for public policy.  He served ably as an advisor to President George H.W. Bush on the campaign trail and in the White House.  Since then, he has gained the type of business experience that I am convinced is required for effective public service.  His talents will serve our great state well when Austen is elected to the Texas Senate.  He has my support.”

“These men offer a model of leadership and service that I intend to emulate.  I am truly humbled to have these men joining the campaign team,” Furse said.

Furse is campaigning aggressively all across the district, which includes parts of Harris, Ft. Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Chambers and Jefferson counties.  He has received a steady stream of business, industry, grassroots, and Party endorsements.
